The Ostrea Oyster and Seafood Bar Penang is located at the 116-year old mansion of The Edison Hotel in Georgetown. The bar is strategically located, so you will have the opportunity to walk pass the central courtyard to appreciate the colonial architecture, restored original cast-iron columns and decorative frescos which authenticates the history of the building. The best thing about dining here is lounging by the cabanas, having a view of the pool and the outdoor area of The Lounge. You can’t be blamed for imagining you are in a tropical resort paradise.

Miyagi prefecture in the northeast Tohoku region of Japan is located on the Sanriku Coast, a fertile breeding area for oysters. Miyagi prefecture is famous for its “Maruemon” brand of oyster, cousin to Hokkaido’s Kakiemon oyster. Although oysters could not be harvested from Miyagi for some time following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, in recent years Miyagi oysters are starting to make waves again. These finest “sea milk” are only available for a limited period only, so check with the restaurant to avoid disappointment.
