Two Frenchies Restaurant Georgetown Penang – Authentic French Cooking

Bonjour! The Two Frenchies Restaurant needs no further introduction and it was no fluke that they had been voted as the #1 restaurant in Penang by Tripadvisor as recently as June 2019. The Two Frenchies is a casual-dining restaurant serving authentic home-cooked style French cuisine. The restaurant is the brain child of Cedric and Bruno who aspire to fill the gap of a good French restaurant in Penang. Inspired by good home cooking, they take traditional French recipes and create delicious food using quality ingredients.

The Two Frenchies restaurant is located at Bishop Street, nestled amongst the heritage enclave of Georgetown. As soon as you step in the restaurant, you will greeted by its all white walls and contemporary interior synonymous with European cave house designs. You will immediately be soaked in a warm, cozy and relaxing environment.

Of course, the highlights are not the interior design but the food. From the starters to the desserts, we were very impressed by the taste and quality of the food. Our favorite were the escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter and the 5 hour oven baked lamb shoulder which was very succulent with every bite. We also loved the Boeuf Bourguignon which is beef cooked very slowly in wine for 4 hours with carrots and caramelized onions laid on a bed of mashed potatoes. The cheese platter for two also serves up some punch with strong cheese and the Duck Liver Pâté which our taste buds need some getting used to. The Pâté is simliar to the foie gras but definitely packed with a more meaty, savory innards taste of the animal. Perhaps, we were just not fans of animal organs.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience. We had a good time and good food without breaking the bank. Also we appreciated the corkage fee waiver for 2 bottles of wine when we ordered a bottle from them. I foresee this restaurant will be able to sustain the long run in a very competitive market.
