Juju Lounge & Restaurant (10-Course Omakase)

If you are up for some adventure, you should try Juju Lounge & Restaurant.

Your first challenge is to find the entrance to this mysterious restaurant as it doesn’t have a recognizable façade. The entrance is a steel door painted in black along a narrow street alley. Don’t expect to be led by any signboards. If you are a fan of beer, you may have heard of Antarabangsa Enterprise. You’ll have to maneuver around this kerbside bar to reach the restaurant. You’ll have to knock or call to get yourself in.

Once inside, you’ll be greeted with a dimly lit, romantic ambience. Where you walk in is the ground floor with a private room catering to 12 people, while a steep staircase will lead you to the main dining area on the upper floor.

Juju Lounge and Restaurant is based on private dining concept. Helmed by Chef Lee (@the.closet.chef) who is dedicated to elevating locally-sourced ingredients and giving them a unique Mediterranean tinge that has been inspired by his travels to Portugal and Spain. His take on cooking is to let the ingredients shine by themselves by using as little intervention as possible.

Hence he curated the 10-course Seafood Omakase priced at RM188 per pax. The omakase-style menu is highly dependent on what’s freshly caught on that day and constantly changes from time to time depend on the availability of the freshest ingredients. If you were to return for another visit, you will then be able to select and order any of the dishes you liked, subject to availability of course.

Amongst our favourite dishes are Alentejana-style pork and lala, squid on bed of ink, cheese wantan, Valencia prawns and the Spanish version of Creme Brulee called Crema Catalana.

The wine list is pretty extensive, consisting of old world and new world wine. We were recommended the Colossal Reserva, a medium to full bodied blended wine from Portugal with ripe black fruits and spicy flavors, well-balanced with smooth tannins and a medium, full and pleasant finish. Priced at RM180 per bottle, it was a good pairing choice as it enhances the taste of the food and elevates the whole dining experience. Download full wine list below.

Highly recommended to try out Juju Lounge and Restaurant. Reservations are a must.
