Hygge Dining and Bar Penang
Nestled in the corner between Jalan Kuala Kangsar and Lebuh Keng Kwee is Hygge Dining and Bar, situated along the enclaves of the old heritage houses amongst the Georgetown Heritage area. Hygge Dining and Bar has been around since 2019 and takes up two-storeys of the building, the top floor can be converted to a private function area.
Pronounced as “hue-gah” or “hoo-guh,” Hygge is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment. Good food, good drinks and comfortable time with people you love can cultivate this Hygge feeling.
This the inspiration behind for the two great chefs, Chef Sam Neoh and Chef Erica Tan, who came together and co-founded Hygge Dining and Bar. Each chef has their own distinctive expertise in the kitchen but shared the same passion in culinary inspired by their grandmother’s cooking. For the love of cooking, Sam & Erica pursued culinary from humble beginnings and work experience.
Hygge Dining and Bar serves Modern European and Asian food. They usually offer a Tapas menu, except for Wednesdays and Thursdays where they do a 9-course Chef’s tasting menu. On top of their regular menu is the homemade Hygge’s Signature Laksa with prawns, chicken, fish cake, beancurd and egg in Hygge’s homemade Laksa broth, garnished with coriander, red chili and some spring onions.
