Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin, the renowned modern Thai restaurant, has been awarded a prestigious one star rating by Michelin. The restaurant is well known for its fine dining Thai-inspired dishes created and presented with impressive modern interpretations. Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin was conceptualised by world-famous Chef Henrik Yde-Andersen whose Kiin Kiin restaurant in Copenhagen is one of the world’s very few Thai restaurants with a Michelin star rating.

The restaurant is located inside the Siam Kempinski Hotel (Read my hotel review). As we were staying there back in November 2018, we took the opportunity to experience the modern gastronomy this restaurant is renowned for. We ordered the 4-course Mini Journey Set Lunch priced at THB 1,850++ and an additional sum for wine pairing. The Journey Set Dinner is priced at THB 3,200++ for 8 courses. The Mini Journey Set Lunch menu is as follows:

• Spicy Salad, Pomelo, Cucumber, Lemongrass, Raw Hokkaido Scallop
• Maine Lobster Salad, Frozen Red Curry
• Slow Cooked Beef Rib with Homemade Oyster Sauce
• Mango with Sticky Rice

This dish is inspired by the smoke bellowing from the tuk tuk’s roaming the street.

For a 4-course meal, we got more than we bargained for. Even though we went there for lunch, the ambiance and service did not disappoint at all. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, the food innovative and inspiring. We’ve tried Le Du and Suhring in Bangkok, but this is something different.

The wine pairing selections were also top notch and were a perfect compliment to the courses. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco to finish off, it is not part of the wine pairing menu.

This is certainly one of the best Michelin restaurants in Bangkok. Would we go back? Yes, but we have a long list of restaurants in Bangkok that we have yet to try. So maybe sometime in the not too distant future.
