Penang EV Boost: Tesla Superchargers & Destination Chargers at Queensbay Mall
Tesla is expanding its charging network in Penang with a new setup at Queensbay Mall, featuring 4 Superchargers and 2 Destination Chargers at the lower mezzanine floor. While still listed as “coming soon” on PlugShare and not yet visible on the Tesla app, this addition will bring Penang’s total to 12 Superchargers, further strengthening EV convenience on the island.

Great news for Tesla owners in Penang — charging is about to get a lot more convenient with the upcoming Tesla Supercharger and Destination Charger setup at Queensbay Mall. Located at the lower mezzanine floor, this new installation is set to feature 4 Tesla Superchargers for fast DC charging and 2 Destination Chargers for AC charging, making it a practical stop whether you need a quick top-up or plan to spend a few hours at the mall. The Superchargers will be ideal for short stops with rapid range gains, while the Destination Chargers will suit longer visits like shopping, dining, or catching a movie.
As of writing, the location is not yet listed on the Tesla app, but it has already appeared on PlugShare as “coming soon,” which strongly suggests that activation is just around the corner. With this addition, Penang’s Tesla charging network continues to expand — alongside existing Supercharger locations at Gurney Plaza and Sunway Carnival Mall, the state now has a total of 12 Superchargers. On top of that, Tesla Destination Chargers are also available at All Seasons Place, bringing the total to 6 across that location.
Given Queensbay Mall’s strategic location near Bayan Lepas and Penang International Airport, this new charging hub is expected to become a go-to spot for Tesla drivers on the island, especially those in the southern region. With more charging points and faster infrastructure on the way, range anxiety continues to shrink, making EV ownership in Penang more seamless than ever.
