• You’re parked anyway

• You’re eating, shopping, or relaxing

• The car charges passively while you go about your day

You’re not “waiting” for the car—you’re just letting it charge in the background.

The Mindset Shift

What ultimately eliminates range anxiety is a simple shift in mindset. You don’t wait until the battery is low like a petrol car—you top up whenever it’s convenient. Once this becomes a habit, range anxiety practically disappears.

Cost Savings & Ownership Experience

Even with public charging, running costs are still significantly lower than petrol. Add in:

• Minimal maintenance

• No engine oil changes

• Fewer moving parts

…and EV ownership starts to make a lot of sense financially.

The Downsides (Let’s Be Real)

It’s not perfect, and it’s only fair to point that out:

• You do need to plan charging a little more

• Fast chargers aren’t everywhere yet

• Occasionally, you might need to wait during peak times

That said, these become minor inconveniences once you adapt.

After three months, I can confidently say this: Yes, the Tesla Model 3 is absolutely practical in Penang—even without home charging. If you regularly visit places with chargers—malls, offices, cafes—you’ll find it surprisingly easy to live with.
