Fresh Catch of the Day Overlooking Penang’s Second Bridge
HLY Ocean Aquaculture is a new dining experience that’s been causing a stir among seafood lovers. A seafood buffet dinner at a fish farm in Batu Maung, offers a unique opportunity to indulge in fresh seafood while enjoying a beautiful sunset view over second Penang bridge.
Upon arrival at the jetty in Batu Maung, we were greeted by friendly staff who escorted us onto a boat that would take us to the fish farm. As we made our way out to sea, we were surrounded by the stunning views of the ocean and the sun setting over the horizon.
A quick 10-minute ride is all it takes to reach the fish farm and floating platform where we dine. We took the opportunity to walk on the wooden stilts to catch a glimpse of the hatchery and breeding ground of the Dragon Tiger Grouper. Boy, were they huge!
After all the exploration, we were treated to a spectacular buffet of seafood. The spread included a variety of fresh seafood such as prawns, clams, mussels, and fish, all cooked to perfection. We were also served a selection of local dishes such as satay, fried chicken and a pot of seafood porridge.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the baked crabs, which were medium-sized but juicy and succulent. All the dishes are unlimited servings, except for “understandably” the crab which we had one each. The speed of the refill was incredibly fast to our surprise. We ordered considerably to avoid any wastage of food.
To compliment the food, there were many choices of beverages such as canned drinks, bottled water, coffee from the machine and even ice-cream for dessert. Again, all are free flow and unlimited.
As we enjoyed our meal, we were entertained by the stunning views of the sunset over the water. The peaceful atmosphere and cool sea breeze added to the overall experience, making it truly unforgettable.
